Educational Programs
Our service location in the heart of one of the most
ethnically diverse neighborhoods in Kansas, allows HOP to
provide many unique opportunities for culturally enriched
service-learning, clinical rotations, practica, training in
community based research methods and geographic information
systems (GIS), cultural competency courses, and other forms
of experiential learning. Faculty, students and community
partners collaborate on a variety of applied research
projects designed to improve the conditions of life for the
more disadvantaged residents of South Central Kansas. To
date, students and/or faculty from 30 departments across the
Wichita State University campus have participated in HOPs
community-based academic-related activities. Students and
faculty from a number sister institutions regularly take
part in our educational offerings. Additionally, HOP offers
non-credit and continuing education classes, workshops and
conferences for the larger community.
